he really said that

The president of the USA told the Prime Minister of Israel that the Nazis were known for the kindness of some of them.

No. They. Were. Not.

Make no mistake. This is a common trope among Evangelical Christians. The Christian Romance community has frequently suffered intense backlash because of romances between a Nazi “hero” and a concentration camp “heroine.” There are always two subtexts. The first is that the Nazi, who is generally high up in the administration of a Concentration Camp, is not complicit in Crimes Against Humanity because he fell in love with a Jewish woman through the grace of god, and that god was going to forgive him anyway. The second is that a Christian man is saving a Jewish woman from her Jewishness and that his god had led him to this act of grace.

It’s repugnant in every respect. There is no world except in the religious fantasies of Evangelical Christians in which any Nazi staff at a Concentration Camp is not complicit. If there was such a thing as God, Nazis, all of them, would be burning in hell right now.

Does anyone really need any further evidence that the President is a puppet of the Christian Right? He parroted their religious talking points to the Prime Minister of Israel. I doubt Netanyahu will express any contempt or dismay seeing as he has his own issues with complicity.

I am offended on behalf of everyone who suffered under or was murdered by the Third Reich. Including their survivors.
