Where I live we had another atmospheric river come through and then stall out and it was a wet and wild time. Fortunately, I had some driveway trees trimmed the previous week so we didn’t have any fallen branches blocking us in. Gusts of wind shook the house, and it rained hard for 4-5 hours. In the course of the day there were constant notifications of road closures, landslides, downed trees. The Russian River area was evacuated after a landslide took an unoccupied house into the river.
Atmospheric rivers are driven by climate change. Seems like we either have terrible terrible drought or this. I prefer wet winters to drought, but that does mean there will be more summer fuel for wildfires. One bright note is that we did not see any power outages, so I guess maybe PG&E has made some progress on that front.
Meanwhile, it’s incredibly wet here but there’s no rain in the forecast today.
