Zero Day: Review

I watched Zero Day, a Netflix limited series that stars Robert De Niro. It was good and maybe a little too on the nose given the current times but it lost some of its punch with certain decisions and backstory.

I won’t say a bunch because it just came out and I don’t want to spoil it for anyone. I will, with some caution, recommend. I mean, De Niro, right? And one of my favorite character actors, Bill Camp. So, if you like De Niro and political thrillers, this is OK. But you might end up mad and disappointed at the blah-washing of what’s going on right now.

My issues:

  1. The bad guys are described as “Far Left” and every single thing they do is straight out of the Far Right play book, which we see on full display right now this minute.
    • For fuck’s sake the far left has never had militias.
    • The far left has never run over and killed a demonstrator or walked the streets during a protest looking for Black people to kill in supposed self-defense, or organized a KKK style march against the existence of women or people of color.
    • The Far Left has never lived on a diet of lies perpetrated by people who only care about money in their accounts.
  2. They didn’t have the balls to call any of the politicians by party and OK fine. I guess. But this is not the time to pull punches.
