Here is a thing I learned some years ago: A board for an organization (that is not explicitly horrible) has a lot to do what with day-to-day business and some degree of future planning. Issues like the effects of racism and sexism on the company and whoever they do business with are always on the agenda, but the discussion goes like this:
We WANT to be better and do better, but we cannot do that today.
The subtext, acknowledged or not, is this: “We fix White people problems first.”
White people can always choose today. Choose today, and do not allow the current US administration to take you back to the days of Jim Crow. It’s today. Not tomorrow.
